Benefits Hydrants of Hope and Training and Leadership Development of Female Firefighters

Meet The Founders

Tulsa Metro Women on Fire was founded by Kendall Taylor and Alexa Reed, two passionate female firefighters who met in 2016 at Camp Inferno, a girls’ firefighting camp in Oklahoma City. What started as a simple request to be included in a men’s firefighting calendar quickly sparked a bigger idea—we wanted to create something of our own, something that truly represented and uplifted women in the fire service.

With a shared vision and determination, we got straight to work. We created our own calendar, dedicating the proceeds to Hydrants of Hope, a nonprofit founded in 2012 by the late Mark Meyer, a Tulsa firefighter, to support children battling pediatric cancer.

From that single project, Tulsa Metro Women on Fire was born. Over the past seven years, our organization has grown exponentially, expanding into a powerful support system for current female firefighters while also inspiring and mentoring the next generation of women in emergency services. With females making up such a small percentage (just 5-8%) of the fire service, we knew we had to create a space where women could uplift each other, build confidence, and show young girls that they, too, can have a future in this profession.

Today, Tulsa Metro Women on Fire continues to empower women through mentorship, leadership opportunities, hands-on training, and community outreach. We are proud of how far we’ve come—and we’re just getting started! 🔥🚒

Tulsa Metro Women On Fire Is :

a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering women, inspiring future leaders, and supporting the fight against pediatric cancer. Founded in 2018, by Kendall Taylor and Alexa Reed, both career female firefighters. Our mission is to uplift and educate women through mentorship, training, and service in addition to inspiring young future leaders.

We proudly host Camp Fierce, an annual hands-on experience where young girls build confidence, develop leadership skills, and learn basic firefighting techniques. Through our outreach efforts, we also support Hydrants of Hope, providing assistance to children battling pediatric cancer and their families.

To further our mission, we sponsor our members to attend conferences, leadership classes, and hands-on skills training, ensuring they continue to grow, lead, and inspire others in their careers and communities.

With the support of our generous sponsors and community partners, we continue to make a lasting impact—one life at a time.
